CHEESE IN BRITAIN
Supply Remains Short
NEW NATIONAL LOAF (British Official Wireless.) (Received February 5, 7 p.m.)
RUGBY, February 4.
A national wholemeal loaf which is to be standardized will be available in the shops within the next few days, according to the Ministry of Food, at the same price as the ordinary white loaf. As a result of research work by scientific experts, the Minister of Food is satisfied that the flour used will give a maximum of digestibility with a maximum of nutriment.
The meat situation is slightly better than it was last week, but it is unlikely that the quantity of cheese available will be much greater in the immediate future.
