Fordell Ewe Fair

A yarding of 19,000 was offered at Fordell ewe fair yesterday. The biggest proportion of the yarding comprised of young ewes, approximately 6000 two and four tooth ewes being yarded, the balance being mnde up of’ 3000 mixed age ewes. 1500 two and four-tooth wethers and 1500 lambs.
After a cautious opening on the first pen of young ewes, buyers then operated freely. Almost a total clearance of the young ewes was effected, the exception being some four-tooth ewes, which failed to reach the.vendors' reserve. Tim mixed age ewes met with a fairly restricted market.
Prices: Two-tooth ewes 30/- to 32/-, medium 26/7 to 29/8, small 19/- to 23/10; four-tooth ewes 26/3 to 39/3, medium 21/to 23/-; four and gix-tooth ewes 23/- to 28/li: two-tooth wethers 19/6; four-tooth wethers 19, -; four and five-year ewes 18/4 to 21/10; s.m. ewes 14/'- to 16/1; fattening owes 6/3 to 9/6; woolly b.f. lambs 14/to 15/3: shorn b.f. lambs to 14/-; wj. shorn wether lambs 11/8 lo 15/-; cull ewe lambs 12/- to 12/6.
