SAILORS'GRATITUDE FOR CHRISTMAS GIFTS
The pleasure and gratitude with which Christmas parcels from the Red Cross branch in their heme towns were received by men on active service is indicated by letters received by Mrs. R. Martin, Pahiatua, whose two sons, serving in the navy, were recipients of gifts. They are Petty Officer Arthur Martin, of 11.M.5. Leander, and Mr. Ernest Marlin (R.N.V.R.), of H.M.S. Monowai. They wrote thanking the women of the society and saying how thrilled they were to think they bad not been forgotten. The parcels were in splendid condition, and they were specially pleased with playing-cards. They were also pleased with the kind notes enclosed.
