Thompson—Sowerby

A quiet, wedding took place recently at St. Patil's Presbyterian Church, Feilding, when Dorothy -May; fourth daughter of -Mr. and Mrs. Sowerby, Asiiluirst, late of Rewa, was married to Stanley John, third son of Mrs. ami the late Mr. Francis Thompson, Rangiwahia. The Rev. A. L. Dixon was the officiating minister.

Tlie bride entered the church escorted by her father. Her frock of leaf pattern lace in magnolia shade was cut ou lilting lines with high neckline, finished with a peter pan collar of shimmer satin, and the full gored skirt forming a train at the back. Her beautiful veil of white embroidered tulle was caught to the head with a halo of orange blossom and fell to form a second train. She carried a sheaf of gladioli, carnations and maiden hair fern.

In attendance was Miss Joyce Versey as bridesmaid, who wore a frock of gladioli pink lace over satin. Pink flowers were worn in the hair and a sheaf of pink gladioli, carnations and sweet peas completed a pretty toilette. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr. Leslie Thompson, as best man.

A reception was held later at the Carlton tearooms. The three-tiered cake took pride of place on the bridal table, beautifully decorated with pastel shades of gladioli and sweet peas. Mrs. Sowerby received her guests wearing a model frock of brown figured centennial marocain. She was assisted by Mrs. Thompson who wore a ripple striped frock of navy sheer with an edge-to-edge coat of navy cloque.

The bride travelled in a frock of cyclamen faconne with navy accessories.

Mr. and Mrs. Thompson will make their future home in Rangiwahia.

Miss Kellick wore n frock of pale blue taffeta which fell in folds to the hemline, over which was worn a coatee with puff sleeves, a pale pink tulle veil caught with pink and blue flowers forming her headdress. Her bouquet was of pink and blue tones. Miss Shepherd's frock was of pale pink marocain, with puffed sleeves, frilled neck and smocked waistline. She wore apricot rosebuds in her hair and carried a posy of the same flowers. The bridegroom was attended by his brother, Mr. H. 0. Stiibbings, Hamilton. as best man. After the ceremony 70 guests were received nt the Parisn Hall by the parents of tlie bride and bridegroom. Mrs. Bridges was in a black and white ensemble, witli black hat. Mrs. Stiibbings wore a black frock relieved with pink and a black hat. A feature of the wedding table was tlie beautiful th roe-tie red cake made and presented by Miss Pattison, Kunieroa. Tlie bride wore for travelling it smart navy frock trimmed with rod, navy and red hat and red gloves. Her red handbag was the gift of the bridegroom, and she carried a navy tailored coat. ‘ Mr. and Mrs. Stiibbings will make I heir new home in Kumeroa.
