MODEL KINDERGARTEN
Work Of Reconstruction To Start Immediately
The work of dismantling the model Free Kindergarten in the Centennial Exhibition grounds and re-erecting it in Hospital Road, Newtown, Wellington, is lo start immediately. This announcement was made by Mrs. J. A. Doctor, president of the Wellington Free Kindergarten Association Council, at the annual reunion of kindergarten graduates and students which was held yesterday afternoon. The CO past an,d present pupils were welcomed by Mrs" Doctor on behalf of the council, whose guests they were. A feature of the afternoon was a talk by Dr. Margaret Birks on her experiences in England and Sweden. She praised the wonderful spirit of the British people in the face of the great difficulties imposed upon them by the war. and specially mentioned the courageous way in which the work in the hospitals was being carried on. Dr. Birks was greatly impressed with tlie manner in which the social services in Sweden were organized. The health of the community was of primary importance, and no one was allowed to lack medical aid where the State could assist necessary cases. Afternoon tea concluded a pleasant social gathering. Kindergartens in Wellington will reopen to the children today.
