AIRCRAFT OUTPUT
“Industrial Miracle” Promised (Received February 2. 10.35 p.m.) NEW YORK, February 1. Colonel John Jouett, president of the Aeronautical Chamber of Commerce of America, said the American aircraft industry’s output in the next 18 mouths “will be an industrial miracle.” He added that the industry would produce at an annual rate of 24,000 planes before the end of 1941, and at the rate of 30,000 six months later. “At this rate,” he said, "if England receives the entire output, American industry would, with her own production, far outstrip tiie Axis within the next six to eight months.” He said that so far 400 American bombers had been flown to England without loss. EASY PASSAGE FOR BILL PREDICTED (Received February 2, 9.30 p.m.) WASHINGTON, February 1. Mr. Patrick Boland, Democratic Whip in the House of Representatives, predicted that, tiie Aid to Britain Bill would pass I lie House by a minimum margin of fifty votes and that ail amendments unacceptable to the Administration would be rejected. ROOSEVELTS ENVOY IN TURKEY ISTANBUL, February 1. President Roosevelt’s special envoy in Europe, Colonel Donovan, has arrived from Salonika. He is reported to be bearing ft message front Mr Roosevelt to the Turkish President. Colonel Donovan went to Ankara after a hurried conference with officers of the British Middle East Command.
