PLEASANT SETTING
Wellington Trotting Club's Meeting At Hutt Park
The Hutt Park, situated on the foreshore of the harbour with the valley stretching north to the mountains, pro-' tectiug hills on either side, and its nearby plantations of firs, presented an animated picture on Saturday afternoon when the second day of the Wellington Trotting Club’s summer meeting was held. The wide green lawns with borders of golden gladioli and deli-cately-toned mauve dahlias, provided a pleasant setting for the large number of racegoers who attended. The spacious upstairs lounge, which also reflected the general air of brightness, was gay with bowls of choice dahlias and gladioli and maidenhair fern, with a background of tubbed palms and conifers. The tea-tables were centred with sweet sultans and maidenhair fern. Mrs. J. E. August, wife of the president of the club, wore an ensemble of black wool georgette and a long coat. Her smart crownless hat was turned up at the side. The official party, entertained by Mr. and Mrs. August, included the Minister of Labour, Mr. Webb, Mr. Perry, M.L.C., Mrs. A. L. Johnson, Mrs. J. A.
