BUSY SUNDAYS AT SPINSTERS' CLUB
The Spinsters’ Club in Wellington has entertained 1400 men of the Army, Navy and Air Force at its Sunday gatherings in the clubrooms, Manners Street, during January. On one Sunday 470 men were present and yesterday again a very large number took advantage of the hospitality offered and spent a pleasant afternoon and evening. A savoury tea was served after which a community is’ing was held, Mrs. Charles McDonald being at the piano. Miss Olga Burton gave songs, which were also much appreciated.
War Service Auxiliary Branch. A sub-branch of Wellington W’omen’s War Auxiliary was formed in Paraparaumu on Wednesday afternoon, when a well-attended meeting was addressed 'by Mrs. D. O. White, representing the central executive, and Captain A. T. AVliite. of the Home Guard. The following officers were elected:— President, Miss D. Cobb; vice-president, Miss N. Hammond: committee, Mesdames Wilson, G. Hirdfield, A. T. White, W. Phipps, and Miss MeLoughnan; horn secretary, Mrs. Dewar.
