The Wellington Basketball Association will open tlie season this afternoon with the usual two-life tournament, played in two grades. Senior A, senior B.,and thii'd-grade, will play at Mount Cook, commencing at 1.30, and all other grades will play' at Hataitai, starting at 4 o'clock. Entries will be, received on the grounds, and in order to finish tlie tourney in one day teams should take the held promptly. If the weather is wet, the tournament will be postponed for a week. Soccer. With tlie competition matches starting next Saturday, many of the teams hate arranged practice games for this alternoon. Tlie Petone and Miramar Rangers senior and junior teams will play at Petone Recreation Ground. A bus for the Miramar Rangers’ players will leave the Capitol Theatre at 12.30 p.m. Waterside will play two matches against a team from a ship in port at Wellington, both at Kclburn Park, starting at 1.30 p.m. The Onslow and Diamond senior teams will play at Anderson Park at 2.45 p.m. Teams composed of lower grade players from the two clubs will play at Anderson Park nt 1.15 p.m. and at 2 p.m. a combined Diamond ami Onslow junior team will play a shipping team. Marist and Swifts will also play on Anderson Park. Hie seniors tit 3.15 p.m.. the juniors nt 2.15 p.m. and tlie fourths at 1.15 p.m. Technical Old Boys will practice a Kilbirnie Farli; at 3 p.m., 4th, 3rd and junior grades, and nt 3.45 p.m., seniors.
