RED CROSS CLUB

A very happy “President’s Party” was held recently at the rooms of the English-Speaking Union, Wellington, when members of the Red Cross Social Club were entertained by their president, Mrs. E. G. Downes.

A delightful musical programme had been arranged, and those who contributed to it were Mrs. Chapman. MrsJones and Miss Joan McKane-Wallace. The accompanist was Mrs. F. Fowler. A novel feature on the afternoon tea table was the top tier of a golden wedding cake. This was contributed by Mrs. 11. Little, who recently celebrated her golden wedding, and who is a foundation member of the club. Iler friendly gesture was much appreciated. On behalf of the club, Mrs. L. Angus presented Mrs. Downes with a pair of crystal vases, and in thanking the members, Mrs. Downes expressed her appreciation of their loyalty throughout the,,veer and their ready response to every appeal.
