PLUNKET BALL NEXT FRIDAY
No individual invitation cards will be issued for the ITunket ball on Friday, July 7, which will be the, outstanding social event, for race week. Tickets may be obtained by applying early to the D.1.C., and only a limited number is available. In addition to outstanding ballets and unusual decorations in a Victorian theme, a feature of the ball is to be the silhouettes by Miss Mollie Rodie.
The new spring ensembles are perfectly charming. The soft blue-greys and pastel blues are really lovely. One ensemble in a soft blue-grey has a frock very smartly tucked with inch tucks on the upper half of one side of the bodice and the lower half of the other side. It is finished with a narrow wine suede belt.. The seven-eighth coat of astrakhan tweed to match is a long box coat with a stitched pleat down the centre back. Another lovely ensemble in a paler tone has vertical rows of fagotting across the bodice, and the topper coat has a narrow standing collar lined with dark wine with a facing inside the fronts to match and a posy of two wine chrysanthemums. A greenish turquoise shade is entrancing in an ensemble with a frock trimmed with foliated self-appliques up the pockets and outlining the neck and sleeves. The fitted little coat has a tie belt and a magnificent collar of blue fox. —Agnes Samson, Lambton Quay.— Advt.
