MINING EXAMINATIONS
Successful Candidates Following the annual examinations of candidates for certificates under the Mining Act, 1926, and the Coal Mines Act, 1925, held at Waibi, Huntly, Reefton, Westport, Greymouth, and Dunedin toward the end of 1938, the board of examiners has granted certificates and partial passes to the following candidates:— Mining Act. First-class mine manager’s certificate: F. L. Sanderson, Waiuta ; J. 11. Craig, Waihi (partial pass) ;R. Dunlop, Karangahake (partial pass) ; K. A. Birchall, Waihi (partial pass). Second-class mine manager's certificate: R. B. Dunlop, Karangahake. Battery superintendent’s certificate: iP. D. Horne, Waikino; L. E. Buckley, Waihi. Dredgemaster's class A certificate: W. B. Hepburn, Alexandra; S. L. Peyton, Murchison. Dredgemnster’s class B certificate: C. Jensen. Gillespie’s Beach; M. A. Hay, Hokitika; J. W. Horrack, Greymouth. Coal Mines Act. First-class mine manager’s certificate: R. Marshall. Dobson ; F. E. Lockington, Wallsend ; P. M. Onthwa'ite. Runanga ; J. T. McLelland, Ohai : D. Mackay, Ob.ai (partial pass) ; W. Hill, Kaitangata (partial pass). 4 Second-class mine manager’s certificate: E. Cordon, Burnett's Race; J. Baird, Taylorville; P. T. Peattie, Huntly. Mine surveyor’s certificate: P. M. Outhwaite, Runanga.
