WANGANUI NOTES

Work By Entail, Homily And Dynasty Dominion Special Service. WANGANUI, January 12. H. W. Johnston does not now intend to take War Lap to Trentham, but will leave with the gelding for Ashhurst early next week. He will then go -to Pahiatua and later to Opunake. W. Rayner will leave for Trentham on Tuesday with his team of three —Dynastry, Entail and Homily. The Wanganui horses engaged at Trentham have not been required to do anything strenuous since the holidays, as they all had racing then. This morning Homily, a Wellington Cup candidate, was given a run over six furlongs. Allowed to make her own pace, she took 1.244 for the journey on No. 1 grass track. She looks very well, having -built up again nicely since racing at Ellerslie.

Entail, with his trainer in the saddle, went freely over six furlongs, his time being 1.18, the first half being done in 50 4-5. He was wide out and it was a satisfactory effort, as he was not extended. Dynasty was restricted to half-pace work, as he is to be galloped on Saturday, wheiv Homily and Entail will also be given a try-out. Icing is in easy work again but she moves very scratchily. Amatory has been allowed to take things easily since racing at Stratford, but he looks.in great order. He will be ridden in the Ashhurst Cup by S. T. Edwards, who will also ride War Lap in the Hack Cup. War Lap was given from half to threequarter pace work, striding out freely. Useful work was done by Vanda and Amigo. K. Chote will ride the former in the Fitzherbert Handicap.
