Beats Lord Cavendish Over
Five Furlongs Dominion Special Service. HAWERA, January 12 The plough at Hawera provided fast going for galloping, but there were few gallops in fast times. Lieken (Sexton) drew attention to hie immediate prospects by shading Lord Cavendish (Prisk) at the end of five furlongs in 1.24. He never looked better and is in great heart for his engagements at Trentham. Winsome Lu (Cavaney) and Race Call (Farland) were responsible for an attractive effort in taking 49 1-5 for half a mile, the former doing better in the final stages. She is making good progress and if the track'is not hard will run in ■the Ashhurst Cup. Kokako (Sexton) finished well to record 56 for half a mile, sticking on better. Gold. Glare and Le Marquis together took 1.6, being under a. good hold throughout.
Algerian (Farland) had the measure of Kilometre (Sexton) over a mile on the trial grass in 504, a good effort on this track.
