BRITISH EXPORTERS
Credit Facilities To Meet
Competition
LONDON, December 8. Details will shortly be announced of a far-reaching Government scheme of credit facilities to enable British, exporters to meet the increased foreign competition, says the political correspondent of the “Daily Mail.” The necessary Bill will be introduced immediately after the Christmas recess.
Mr. R. S. Hudson, Parliamentary Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department, said last week that British industry would be organised if necessary to fight German trade methods not only in south-eastern Europe, but in the markets of the world. The Government had no intention of copying Germany’s methods. On the contrary, Britain would continue to conduct her trade and commercial relations along- orthodox and traditional financial lines, but new methods would be introduced ns new situations arose. The exact form of these methods was being considered by the Government. As long as Gernfany maintained her present trading methods whereby she secured a stranglehold over various countries at the cost of her own people, Britain would be forced to step down into the arena and meet her at her own game.
