Hansford, Mills and Hardy, of Christchurch, and the price at which they have undertaken the work is £151,639. * In connexion with the police inquiries into the infant murders in Melbourne, where sensational disclosures followed on the suicide of a woman named Mrs. Newman. the methods of tlie American “Third Degree” are being applied in the examination of the deceased woman’s husband and children. The bodies of two infants were unearthed in a fowlhouse at the woman’s residence and at least four others are missing. Tlie woman left a note stating that her husband and children knew nothing of the business. The children were subjected to 12 hours’ examination and the husband to 14.
