Workshops Ambulance Division Dance
The annual dance of the Hutt Valley Railway Workshops Ambulance Division of the St. John Ambulance Brigade was held in the social hall on Thursday night when 200 dancers attended. Songs were given by Mr. Lennox. The winners of the monte carlo waltz were Miss M. McDonald and Mr. H. Alexander, and Mrs. Wynyard and Miss M. Wynyard. Lhe lucky spot was won by Miss I. Johnson and‘Mr. J. Millard. The president, Mr. W. McEvoy, presented the prizes A demonstration of ambulance work was given by Sergeant T. Bincock and Invates J. T. O’Leary, L. R. Jarvis, H. W. Christie and K. T. Amies. Mr. W. McEvoy presented the followin'- cups and medallions: Self Help Cup, Sergeant A. J. Greenfield and Privates J. E. Erd, F. C. Wheeler, E. J. Richardson ; Aroca Cup, Privates L. G. Turner, H. W. Christie, J>. M. McKeown, K. 1. Amies; medallions, Privates A. S. Blanchard, J. R. Carter, J. R. McP. Hunter; five-year certificate, Private H. W. Hartley. . . The committee was : Division-Superin-tendent R. C. Horwell, Ambulance Officer A. McPherson, Ambulance Officer A. J. Ross (secretary), Sergeant T. Pincock, Captain T. McMullen, Privates A. G. Buttefield, and L. R. Jarvis, Mr. J. P. Smith was the master of ceremonies. Swimming Club Card Evening. The prize-winners at the Lower Hutt Swimming Club card evening were Mrs. Guy and Mr. Watt. The players included Mr. and Mrs. D. Neilson, Mr. and Mrs. B. Futter; Mesdaines J. Warburton, D. Annear, Guy, Toller, Barker, D. Murray, F. Cooper, Astall, V. Mason, D. Murray, Mellraith and Baker; Miss Herrington; Messrs. A. Robins, Watt (2), W. Mair, H. Proebstel, C. Cooper, Pussell, Lyons, Rogers and Sammons.
