Under the will of Mr. George Allman, who died in Palmerston North on November 12. 1938, a farm property of 30 acres at Bainesse has been bequeathed to the New Zealand Native Bird Protection Society, together with the whole of the residue of the estate, subject to certain life interests to the family. The testator expressed the wish that the Bainesse property should be used for all time as a sanctuary for the preservation, care and breeding of birds indigenous to New Zealand.
