1 The quality of the fat cattle yarded at Stortford Dodge sale to-day was very poor except for a few pens and prices showed a slight easing on last week’s. One exceptionally prime bullock topped the market at £l4/15/-. Best ox beef made up to 30/- :i 1001 b. and heifer beef averaged 27/-, cow 24/- down to 20/-. There were very few store cattle yarded and'bidding was confined to a few miseellaneous crossbred sorts and a line of dairy cows. The yarding of fat sheep was a large one and values were about on the same,basis as last week’s. Extra good ewes made to 21/- Because of the possibility of spring being late mid because of the heavy fails of snow which affected the store sheep market, most of the lines offered were from flooded areas and the market was a very slack one. Some realisations were:—

Fat cattle: On account of Mr. R. Hanrahan, an entry of heavy Aberdeen Angus cross bullocks, prime quality, sold at £l4 13/6 to £l4/15/-; a. line of Aberdeen Angus bullocks sold at £ll/10/-. These were line bullocks but required topping off. A further pen of similar bred bullocks, also requiring finishing, sold at £ll/14/-. A prime finished medium grown Hereford heifer sold at £B/5/-; an entry of similar grown Aberdeen Angus heifers, _ prime finished but not heavy, sold at £B/9/-. Several pens of small grown heifers ranged from £6/10/- to £7/2/6. On account of Mr. J. Farquhar, Otamauri, an entry of mixed bred well finished prime heifers sold- at £9/16/-. A pen of Aberdeen Angus cows, medium condition, brought £6/5/-; a line of dehorned Hereford cows, good order, sold to £7/15/-; five Sbortliorn-Herel'ord cross cows, medium frames, sold to £7/12/6; an entry of mixed bred cows, plain quality, brought to £6/18/-; another pen of unfinished, plain sorts that lacked quality sold to £6/5/-: a line of young small to medium grown cows, extra well finished, sold to £7/1.5/-. Fat sheep: Extra prime ewes 21/9, others 18/6 to 14/-. Very few wethers were yarded and Southdown cross twotooths made to 24/-. A line of store sheep on account of Mr. A. Spiers. Donglands. 371 five-year ewes, well mouthed, made 22/- for run of 100; the balance were passed at 20/10. An entry of aged ewes, very low condition, sold at S/-\ a line of five-year ewes, with a sprinkling of young sheep, made 19/-; a line of fat and forward, early shorn, two-tootli wethers brought 21/-; a line of mixed aged ewes from Eskdale, well woolled and including some small framed sorts, sold at 21/4; an offering of 84 medium grown fat ami forward hoggets brought 18/6: a line of extra well woolled Romney cross wether hoggets, in forward order, sold at 20/7.
