Smaller yardings of 'beef met with keen competition and values advanced 1/-.a 1001 b. Extra choice beef sold at; 38/a 1001 b.; choice and prime. 35/- to 37/-; secondary and plain, 30/- to 34/-; prime cow and heifer beef, 34/- to 36/-; plain and unfinished, 22/- to 30/-. Extra heavy prime .steers brought £1.4/10/- to £l6: heavy, £l3 to £l5/2/6; medium, £ll 15/- to £l3/17/6; light, £lO/10/- to £l’2 5/-; unfinished, £7/5/- to £lO/5/-; extra heavy prime cows and heifers, £lO to £l2 17/6; heavy, '£B/15/- to £lO/5/-; medium, £7/2/6 to £9/10/-; light, £6 tu £B/5/-; unfinished, £4 to £6/1.0/-. Average yardings of sheep met with a steady demand, and late rates were fully maintained. Prices for wethers and ewes remained firm with an advance for prime ewes over last week’s rates. Prices were :—Sheep: Extra heavy prime wethers. 34/6 lo 35/6; heavy, 32/- lo 33/-: medium. 29/- to 34/3; light. 26/6 io 31/6; unfinished, 19/- to 27/6 ; . extra heavy prime ewes. 22/6 to 27/6; extra 20/- to 20/9; inediuiu. 18/- to 24/-: light, .15/6 lo 22/-; unfinished. 4/6 lo 13/-. Ait average supply of lambs realised fully late rates with heavy grades ranging from 23/- to 28/-; smaller and unfinished, 6/3 to 23/-. With only small numbers ol calves coming forward bidding was nartieularly brisk, and values for choice quality runtiers were fully 10/- a head better, while good quality v.ealers improved by as much at 20/-. Runners sold to £4 to £7 17/-; heavy vealers, £4/14/- to £6/18/-; medium, £3/18/- to £5/1/-; light, £3/8/tu £4/2/-: smaller, £2/10/- to £3/8/-; unfinished and bucket fed. £l/5/- to £2 1.8/-: bobby and rough, ”/- to £l/15/-. An average yarding of pigs realised late rates, quotations being firm with brisk bidding. .Sales were: Choppers. £2 to £4 18/-; heavy and medium baeoners, £4 to £4/13/-; light, £3/10/- to £3/18/-; heavy porkers, £3/5/- tv £3/1-1/-; medium. £2 16/ to £3/5/-: light, £2/6/- to £2/14/-: small mid unfinished. £l/16/- lo £2/18/-: large stores, £l/15/- to £l/19/-: slips, £l/3/- tu £l/7/-: weaners, 10/- tu £1 3/-: sows in pig, £3/10/- to £6/5/-; boars, £2/2/- to £3/15/9.
