Contract Also Let For New Ordnance Store
A swimming pool 100 feet long by do feet wide is now being erected at Trentham military camp by scheme 13 labour. It will range in depth from four to seven feet and will be completed for the summer of 1938-39. There are 20 men engaged on the work. The supervision is being provided by the engineering staff of the camp. A contract has. also been let for a new ordnance depot store, to be 450 feet long. Work will start on this shortly. This is a private contract. A new camp shop is also to be erected. " Altogether there are 66 scheme 13 men working at the camp. - Those not. on the swimming pool work are engaged in road improvements and gorse clearing. Camp Road is to be tar sealed next summer. There is much activity at the camp at present. Sixty R.N.Z.A. permanent staff men have just arrived for a six-months’ course. On Friday 130 Air Force trainees, who have been on a three-montbs’ course, were drafted to the military aerodromes. Eighty members of a territorial mounted rifles unit, who had been in camp’ for a short course, left the same day.
