MAJOR SCHEME FOR SILVERSTREAM
Elimination Of Bridges
'[•■he elimination of the bridges on the main road leading through Silverstream will begin shortly. The definite nature of the scheme has yet to be decided by the council to whom the works committee will submit alternative propositions. One of the schemes is more costly than the other two, but it will give certain residents relief from Hoods. '.rhe main scheme would eliminate existing bridges altogether and take the water in front of the Silverstream school. Another scheme is to demolish the present one-way wooden bridges and replace them with satisfactory two-way structures conforming to main highway standards. Whatever plan is decided on will give first-class access to Silverstream and I’inehaven aiid Whiteman’s Valley, which are in the Hutt county. The cost of the labour will be found by the Government; the council will provide materials and supervision.
