Members of the Wellington V.M.C.A. Debating Club held a series of impromptu debates this week. Speakers and subjects, the first-mimed speaker taking the affirmative. were as follows: — “That prohibition should be introduced into New Zealand”; J. Davey, S. Baudinet. ■ .
“That the time-payment system is pernicious” ; R. Selby, M. Morten. “That free trade is a fallacy' ; 8. Hepplestono, IV. Christie. "That trial by jury should be almlistied”: J. G. Oliver, M. Davidson. “That the Government superannuation scheme is in the best interests of the people”; c. Spratt, S. Keruse. Next week an “open forum session will be held at the V.M.C.A. The subject will be “That a policy of migration is in the best Interests of New Zealand.
