“Now Out Of The Woods” By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, July 8. “It can be stated quite definitely that the United Slates is now otft of the woods,” said Mr. W. J. Wilbur, a prominent New York resident, and an Investment Councillor, who Is a through passenger by the Monterey for a holiday in Melbourne.
He said that lately there had been a marked improvement in the unemployment position and trends in the stock market had been most encouraging. Stocks have risen considerably, steel having jumped from 43 to 60. The rise was caused, first by the Government's decision to spend 3,700.000 dollars on public works over a period of a year or two, and secondly by the falling-off of fear among the public.
