ATTENDANT’S DEATH

Found Unconscious Near Colliery Machinery By Telegraph—Press Association. Auckland, July 7. Found lying beside screening machinery with grave injuries to his head, a machine attendant, John Clark, aged 24, single, died at Glenafton collieries late this afternoon before the arrival of a doctor. It is believed Mr. Clark either became entangled in the machinery or was struck by a belt or revolving wheel. Nobody ,• the accident. A switchboard attendant noticed a peculiarity, however, and stopped the machinery. When an inspection was made, Mr. Clark was found lying unconscious on the floor. He did not regain consciousness and was dead by the time a doctor arrived.
