UNDER QUARANTINE IN AUSTRALIA

Cruise Yiner Strathaird (Received March 25, 9.35 p.m.) Canberra, March 25. Following the death from smallpox in the Fremantle quarantine station of a woman passenger from India, the liner Strathaird has been placed under strict quarantine, though it will be allowed to go from port to port. Passengers landing will either be quarantined' or vaccinated and released under surveillance. The vessel is due at Adelaide to-morrow. The liner took aboard 140 Australian passengers at Fremantle for a cruise to Fiji. Others were booked from Adelaide, Melbourne and Sydney, bringing the total to about 1000. The cruise passengers will be in the same position as those on board the liner before it touched Australia.
