Dance In Aid Of Red Cross

Funds

A studio in WUlis Street was the scene of a happy dance last night, when a “frolic” was held, arranged by the Wellington Red Cross Social Club to raise funds for the RCd 'Cross. The studio was brightly decorated with vivid orange and yellow fringed streamers radiating to the sides of the room from two central points, and with vases of hydrangeas In various tonings. A spirited orchestra was heard in tuneful 'dance numbers, all of which were enthusiastically encored. Later in the evening a “wagon” supper was served iu the dance room. Novelty dances were very popular, the prizes being Easter eggs. Tap dances by Miss Joy Green and Mr. Blake were also greatly enjoyed. Those who were responsible for the arrangements were Mrs. Farmer, Mrs. John Lavett, Miss Helen Farmer, and Miss Josephine Russell. During the evening Mr. M. 8. Galloway, secretary of the Wellington Red Cross Society, thanked all present for their attendance and spoke briefly of the activities of the Red Cross. The dance was attended by Mrs. L. I-I. Angus (president of the Red Cross Social Club), Dr. A. Gillies (chairman of the New Zealand Red Cross Society). Several doctors from the hospital were also present.
