WEDDING

Slade—Lowe Tire wedding was solemnised on a recent evening at the Wellington South Church of Christ, of Winifred Agnes, second daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Lowe, «nd Leonard, youngest son ot Mrs. Blake and the late Mr. J. Slade, Kaiti, Gisborne. The ceremony, a choral one, was performed by the Rev. W. G. Graham, and Mrs. H. Halliwell, Gisborne, played the organ. The bride entered the church with her father, and was preceded by Ross Usmar, a little page-boy, in satin, who carried a satin cushion on which lay the wedding ring. Her gown of magnolia satin and lace was made with a V neck, and finished with a row of tiny buttons down the front of the bodice. The sleeves were long and tightlyfitting, and the skirt, cut on the cross, fell away into folds, inset with lace, that ended in a long circular train. Her veil, arranged from clusters or orange blossom, formed a second tram, and was worn over the face. The bride also wore a beautiful gold pendant which had belonged to her grandmother, and she carried a bouquet ot lilies, asters, and maidenhair f Grn - The two bridesmaids, Miss Nola Glover and Miss Joyce Lowe, sister of the bride, were in frocks of apple-green satin and lace, with black velvet sashes, tiny black velvet buttons down the front of the bodice, and short puffed sleeves. College Old Girls Wellington Girls’ College old girls are reminded of the gathering which will take place next Tuesday night at a quarter to eight, when Miss Rayme 'Ward, a former member of the staff and a committee member of the old girls’ association for many years, will be the guest of honour at a complimentary social. The Wellington Free Kindergarten is bolding a jumble side to-day. Gifts for the sale will be greatly appreciated,and should be left at the Taranaki Street Kindergarten before 10 a.m. today. Old fprniture, china, crockery and antiques will be very helpful contributions.

'Dirt and soot can be prevented from falling into the hearth of seldom-used fireplaces by placing a piece of wire gauze, cut to the correct size, at the base of the chimney opening. This will catch the soot and can be very easily removed and replaced.
