Similar numbers were offered and the ox quality was only fair, values in this section being firm. More cows and heifers of better quality came forward but values generally tended to ease. Extra choice ox beef sold at 39/a 1001 b., choice and prime 34/- to 38/-, unfinished 28/- to 33/-, prime cow and heifer beef 30/- to 35/-, unfinished 22/to 29/-. Heavy prime steers made £l2 to £l3/17/6; medium £ll/7/6 to £l2 10/-; light £lO to £ll/12/6; unfinished £7/10/ to £lO/7/6; extra heavy prime cows and heifers £9 to £lO/12/6; heavy £8 to £9/15/-; medium £6/10/- to £7 15/-; light £5 to £6/7/6; unfinished £3 5/- to £4/1776. n Sheep supplies were heavy and the quality good. Wethers decreased in value‘by up to 2/- a head. Ewes were generally firm. Extra heavy prime wethers brought 29/- to 31/-; heavy 27/6 to 28/6; medium 26/- to 27/3; light 24/to 25/6; unfinished 20/- to 23/; extra heavy prime maiden ewes 21/6 to 26/6; heavy 19/- to 20/-; medium 17/- to 18/6 ; light 15/- to 16/6; unfinished 2/- to 14/9. Fewer lambs came into the market and sold under extremely keen’ competition at firmer values. Primest grades realised 18/6 to 29/9; smaller and unfinished 7/6 to 18/-. r , The extra large yarding of calves included first-class quality. Bidding was dull, values for all classes receding by up to 10/- a head. Runners brought £2 to £7/17/6; heavy .vealers, £3/10/- to £4 18/- medium £3 to £2/6/-; light £2 to £2 18/-; smaller £l/8/- to £l/18/-; unfinished 15/ to £l/6/-; bobby and rough 4/- to 15/-. A particularly large consignment of pigs included a good proportion of prime baconers, for which the demand was firm and prices were unaltered. Porkers eased by about 3/- a head and stores were also cheaper. Choppers macle £1 to £4 11/-; heavy baconers £4/2/- to £4/6/-; medium £3/17/- to £4; light £3/9/- to £3/14/; heavy porkers £2/14/- to £3/1/-; medium £2/5/- to £2/11/-; light £l/19/to £2/4/; small and unfinished £l/6/to £l/14/-; stores 18/ to £l/9/-; slips 10/- to £l/2/-; weaners 4/- to 12/--. Baconers averaged 6|d to 6Jd a lb., pork was 6d. to 6Jd.
