A large yarding of cattle and sheep was offered at the Johnsonville sale. The bullocks consisted chiefly of prime me; dium-weigbt cattle, with a few pens of extra prime heavyweight. Fine quality cattle met .with a ready sale at prices showing no alteration on those ruling last week. Light and unfinished bullocks were hard to quit even at reduced rate. The quality of runners and vealers was not up to the usual standard. The majority of vealers lacked condition, prices being easier to the extent of 5/- a head on those ruling last week. The yarding of wethers was of good quality, with prices for fine quality sheep firm on last week’s, while lightweight and unfinished sorts were easier to the extent of 1/- to 1/6 a head. Extra prime heavy ewes met with keen competition at prices firmer to the extent of 5/- a head, while light ewes were down 1/- to 1/6. The yarding of ' lambs was of poor quality. Only a few pens of prime lambs came forward, the balance of the yarding being chiefly plain and 1 lightweight lambs. The demand for good lambs was keen,- with prices 1/- to 1/6 a head above export parity, while light and plain lambs were hard to sell Quotations are as follows: — Prime extra heavy bullocks, £l5/12/6 to £l5; prime heavy bullocks, £l4/18/to £l4/12/6; heavy bullocks. £l4/10/- to £l3/5/-; light and. unfinished bullocks, £l2/10/- to £ll/5/-; extra prime heavy cows and heifers, £lO to £9/2/-; prime heavy cows and heifers, £B/17/6 to £S 10/-;. cows and heifers, £7/12/6 to £7; cows ex dairy, £6 to £3/16/-; runners and vealers, £4 to £2/2/-; small calves, 22/- to 10/-. Prime extra heavy wethers. 28/- to 26/5 ; prime heavy wethers, 26/3 to 25/6 ; medium wethers, 24/9 to 23/2; prime extra heavy ewes, 21/6 to 20/1; prime heavy ewes, 19/9 to IS/-; medium ewes, 16/10 to 15/-; extra heavy lambs. 25/6 to 23/3; heavy lambs, 23/- to 21/9 ; medium lambs, 20/- to 18/-; light spring lambs, 17/- to 16/S.
