Woods—Tompkins
The wedding was solemnised nt St. Augustine’s Anglican Church, Petone. recently, of Winifred, daughter of Mrs. TT. E. Rodger and the late Mr. F. C. Tompkins, Dunstable, England, and John, son of Mr. and Mrs. J. Woods. Petone. The Rev. H. S. I. Kenny officiated. The bride, who was escorted by her cousin, Mr. C. Crooks, wore a gown of ivory satin cut on classical lines, with a sequin collar. Her veil was caught to the head with a halo of sequins, and she carried a bouquet of tiger lilies and maidenhair fern. Her bridesmaids, Miss Mavis Tompkins (sister of the bride) and Miss Beulah Johns, wore frocks of gold shimmer satin made with full sleeves, coatees to match, and haloes of gold lame and gold leaves. They carried bouquets of matching flowers and maidenhair fern. The two flower-girls. Maisie Steele and Eileen Mathieson, nieces of the bridegroom. were frocked alike in green taffeta made with full skirts and peter pan collars and finished with tiny buttons. Their hats were of pleated net and they carried gold baskets of flowers. A reception was held at the Working Men’s Club, where Mrs. Rodger received about 109 guests. She wore a frock of brown and fawn blister crepe with hat and posy to tone. Mrs. Woods, the bridegroom’s mother, wore a frock of navy blue moss crepe de chine and a navy blue hat. Her posy was of flowers of contrasting tones.
For the wedding tour Mrs. Woods wore a frock of navy blue and white taffeta made with a redingote effect and a navy blue and white toffue and veil.
