Farewell Afternoon
Mrs. F. B. Bolt, Waterloo Road, Lower Hutt, was hostess recently at an afternopn for Mrs. R. O. Chesney, who, with her daughter, Miss Mary Chesney, will leave shortly for a trip to England. Mrs. Bolt received her guests wearing a frock of floral georgette, and Mrs. Chesney wore navy blue silk spotted voile and hat to tone. The day was tine and the guests were able to enjoy the beautiful garden. The guests were Mesdames E. Foster, Welch, H. J. Rawson, S. M. Hobbs, F. E. Bolt, L. Sanders and Archie (Auckland), and Miss Lucas. Scout Card Party. A card party in aid of the scout funds was held in the Scout Hall, Lower Hutt, on Tuesday evening. The prize-winners were Mrs. Haigh and Mr. J. Wilson 1, Mrs. Mair and Mr. Maltby 2. Those present were Mesdames L. Price, Wilson. Whitcher, Mcllraith, Ritchie, Winslade. Guy, Haigh, Mair, Futter, Larsen, Mitchell, Galvin, Mason, Slater. Rndge and Astall, Messrs. J. Inglis, Whitcher, Hillock, Heeney, Cooper, Winslade, James, Ritchie, Pussell, J. D. Adam, H. Futter, A. McPhee, J. Thompson, Layloek, A. O. McMullen, Maltby and R. Burrudge. Fire Brigade Card Party. A successful 500 party was held in the Lower Hutt Fire Brigade room this week. The first prize-winner was Mrs. Prodestel. Mesdames Slinn, sen., ‘Slater, Inglis, and Mr. L. V. Doran received special prizes. Those present were Mesdames Warburton, Mcllraith, Linneker, Parkins, Edwards, Guy, Haigh, Mason, Cooper, Slater, Lyford, Mackissack, Mr. and Mrs. Slinn, sen., Mr. and Mrs. Neilson, Mr. and Mrs. J. Slinn, Mr. and Mrs. J. Hutton, Mr. and Mrs. Proebstel, Messrs. Cooper, Cowley, Layloek, Drieberg, J. Inglis, L. V. Doran. PETONE WOMEN’S RIFLE CLUB MEETING The annual general meeting of the Petone Working Men’s Club Women’s Rifle Club was held recently when the following offiers were elected for the ensuing year:—Patron, president of P.W.M. club ; captain, Mrs. Verrail; vice-captain, Mrs. Barlow; secretary-treasurer, Mrs. Lusty; publicity officer, Mrs. Fuller; delegate to association, Mrs. Warner; ■ committee, Mesdames Taylor, Fuller, Donkin, Cunliffe; vice-presidents, Hon. W. Nash. M.P., Messrs. A. Scholefield, Mills, Whitcombe and Caldwell, Scambury, Verrail, Donkin, Ward, McDonald, Niell, Wilson, Little, Lander, Mclntyre, Silbury, Dawson, Liebeziet, Barlow, Sergeant H. C. D. Wade, Miss Harper, Mesdames May, Watson, Blake and Henderson.
The official opening will be held on Tuesday, March 29.
