Young Man Fined £lO A fine of £lO. with coots, and cancellation of -his driving licence until September 30 was the penalty imposed on Dougins Henry Byrne, car assembler, aged 24, Petone, who pleaded guilty before Mr. H. P. Lawry, S.M., in the Magistrates' Court, Upper Hutt, to being intoxicated in charge of a car in Camp Rond, Trentham, early on Saturday night. Inspector A. C. Crawford, Transport Department, saw Byrne driving erratically in Camp Road and stopped him on the main highway, said Constable F. J. Williams. who prosecuted. He was medically certified unfit to drive. For Byrne Mr. G. Findlay submitted that the case was not a serious one. CONGESTION RELIEVED 212 On Roll Of Waterloo School The opening, of the new Waterloo School has relieved the congestion at the Walwetu School and done away with the necessity for using the hired hall for classes, stated Mr. W. V. Dyer, chairman of tlie Wellington Education Board, yesterday. About 100 children had been transferred to Waterloo, where the roll number was now 212. Mr. W. E. Dickinson, for many years first assistant at Eastern Hutt School, is acting-headmaster at Waterloo and he has seven assistants. The eight rooms are each capable of holding a elass of 42 children. RESIDENTIAL NURSERY Mis. AV. L. Ilooson presided at the monthly meeting of the Lower Mutt Residential Nursery. Appreciative reference was made to the services' of Mrs. J. Charlesworth, a former president, now resident in Nelson. The meeting took the form of a “groceries afternoon,” each member bringing a parcel for the Residential Nursery.
