Acclimatisation Society’s Activities Masterton, March 22. "The fishing season did not open well, but improved as it advanced, some excellent sport and bags being obtained,” says the annual report of the Wairaraßa Acclimatisation Society. With larger quantities of yearlings being liberated, next season should show a decided improvement. Tlie best sport and bags came from the Ruatnahunga and Waipoua rivers. “We much regret that there is no evidence of the Minister changing his views in regard to separate licences for the shooting of pheasants. It is also regrettable to note that the pheasant farm has failed to produce the required number of pheasants. The expense is out of all proportion to the results. We are still waiting for the. recommendations passed by the North Island New Zealand Council, and until they are received the revision of the rules cannot be undertaken.
“The duck and ewan-shooting season was fairly good. We are pleased that the licence fee of £l/5/- was not increased. Quail-shooting was the worst in this district for a number of seasons, rabbit poison and vermin being responsible.”
