German Allegation Against Dr. Schuschnigg FALSE ANNOUNCEMENT OF RESULT > By Telegraph—Press Assn. —Copyright. London, March 21. The Berlin correspondent of "The Times” says -that, searching the offices of the Patriotic Front at Graz, police found a large quantity of leaflets which were evidently intended for distribution after Dr. Schuschnigg’s plebiscite, announcing a 97 per cent, victory for Dr. Schuschnigg; also envelopes containing five ballot papers instead of one. The German Press expresses indignation at this attempt to save the terrorist system by betrayal and forgery. The Vienna correspondent of “The Times” states that the campaign in. connection with the plebiscite on the A.’.stro-German union will be opened on March 23 with a demonstration in Vienna at which Herr Buerckel will announce the Nazi programme for economic reconstruction in Austria. Herr Buerckel has announced the opening of a people’s fund to which all are asked to contribute a proportion of their wealth, as an act of gratitude t<f the Fuehrer. The money will be spent in relieving the inhabitants of Vienna’s slums.

PERSECUTION OF JEWS

More Brutal Than In Germany London, March 21. The Geneva correspondent of 'The Times” says that a communique issued by the secretariat of the World Jewish Congress states that persecution of Jews in Austria is even more brutal than has hitherto been employed in the Reich. Suicides in the first four days of the Nazi regime resulted in 140 interments in Jewish cemeteries. The offices of all Jewish organisations have been closed and all funds seized.

Austria Ceased To Exist As Sovereign State Geneva, March 21 J A Note from the German Government informs the League of Nations that Austria as a sovereign State has to exist.
