Italian Troops In Spain
London, March 21. The Rome correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph” states that the Italian command at General Franco's headquarters nt Salamanca announces that two Black Shirt Italian divisions broke tlie loyalists’ second line, clearing the territory between Caspe and the Ebro River along a four-mile front. The Italians opened the attack yesterday and overcame the loyalists’ resistance after fierce hand-to-hand fighting. Information available in Barcelona indicates that there are 60,000 Italian regular troops in Spain, in addition to volunteers. Recent arrivals comprise 1000 on February 24 and 2100 on March 5.
BOMBER SHOT DOWN
Barcelona Anti-Aircraft Guns Barcelona, March 21. Government anti-aircraft guns shot down an insurgent bomber near Colella, north of Barcelona. One member of the crew was killed and the remainder were captured.

British At Barcelona i . Barcelona, March 21. British residents have been notified that H.M.S. Penelope will be here on March 23 and March 24 and are urged to take the opportunity of going to Marseilles. They are again reminded that embarkation on His Majesty’s ships may not be possible in the case of an emergency.

s Bombing Of Civilians Washington, March 21. The Secretary of State, Mr. Cordell Hull, in a statement regarding the bombing of civilian populations, said: “I am speaking for the whole of the American people when I voice my sense of horror at what has occurred at Barcelona.” He indicated, however, that he is not making a protest to General Franco.

Landing Of Germans In Spain ' 1 London, March 21. In the House of Commons the Prime Minister said that information shows that a report of the landing of 30,000 Germans in Spain ig false. Labour members heckled the Government about Italo-German intervention in Spain. Mr. R. A. Butler, Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs, said it was common knowledge that both sides had received help. He refused to answer supplementary questions, saying that It was difficult to get confirmation of every detail. Mr. Chamberlain said that the British Government kept the United States G-overnment generally inform-
ed of its attitude toward recent events in Europe.
RED CROSS RELIEF
British Contribution (British Official Wireless.) Received March 22, 7.5 p.m.) Rugby, March 21. The .Prime Minister, Mr. Chamberlain, informed the House of Commons at question time that the Government had already made a contribution to the Internatinnl Red Cross Society for the provision of medical and other forms of relief in Spain, ar/1 was considering the 'desirability of making a further contribution. Referring to the British representations concerning bombings in Spain, Mr. Chamberlain said similar representations had been made by France and Britain was inviting the Vatican to do likewise.
