LEAGUE OF MOTHERS
Meeting At Miramar The Aliramar branch of the League of Mothers held its first meeting of the year recently in the Methodist Hall. In the absence of Airs. Walls, Airs. Cummings, president of the Ngaio branch, presided. The speaker for the afternoon was Air. Cummings, who gave some very useful hints on gardening. He dealt mainly with the digging and preparation of the soil, natural and artificial manures, seed. sowing, germination and cultivation, growing crops in rotation, and described fully the growth and habits of several shrubs which he brought with him. He also distributed a number of slips and plants, which were eagerly sought after and were greatly appreciated by the members. On the motion of Airs. Hill, a vote of thanks was accorded Mr. and Airs. Cummings. Miss Beere, accompanied by Mrs. Calgon, sang two songs and received very warm applause.
To cement a small crack in a china dish, boil for about 30 minutes in enough sweet milk to cover the dish. This will cement the crack and make It almost invisible.
