Motor Drive And Supper

.On Thursday evening a very successful farewell motor outing was given to Nurse Lois Wallace by some of her friends, Miss Iris Highet acting as hostess. After enjoying- the marine drive in the ■moonlight, the cars stopped at Scorching Bay, -where supper was served. Nurse Wallace is leaving for England on Thursday next to further her nursing studies. She received her general training in the Wellington Hospital and afterward took the maternity course at the Alexandra Hospital. She will be leaving Sydney With her parents, Mr. and Mrs. E. A. Wallace, on the new Orient liner Orcades on March 23. Sister Elizabeth Spring, who was recently sent to New Zealand by' the Victorian Government to study maternity work in the Dominion, will join the party in Melbourne. After visiting America it is the intention of Sister Spring and Nurse Wallace to take special courses in London and Edinburgh. Tea Parties A bowl of gladioli was used to decorate a tea-table at James Smith's tearooms yesterday when Mrs. C. Staff entertained Mrs. A. Davison, a visitor from Mosman, Sydney. Those present were Mrs. J. F. Woodward, Miss A. Woodward, Miss L. Woodward, Miss D. Davison (Sydney). A small. afternoon tea party was. given at James Smith's tearooms yesterday by Mrs. Morris for Mr. and Mrs. Edward Weinath. The tea-table was decorated with colourful zinnias. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. C. Lawson, Mrs. C. Lester, Mr. and Mrs. J. Winter, Mrs. 11. Tait, Mr. J. Nicholls. A charming cocktail frock of delphinium blue satin-backed crepe with the bodice fullness gauged above the waist-line in Mie centre front, and has round the neck a border of closely-sewn sequins to match, with a powdering towards the waist. The graceful split sleeves are drawn at the wrist into a vertical band of sequins which trim the ends of the sash belt. Au enchanting little cap entirely of blue sequins finishes a perfect toilette. A sapphire and silver lame cocktail frock has a long straight skirt and the bodice shows one of the new deep fitted belts with a row of self buttons up both front and back. Another lovely frock is of lame with a black ground, patterned with small colourful squares. It is high to the neck, aiid long-skirted, with elbow sleeves and a long sapphire velvet, sash. (I was entranced with a marvellous black sequined hat—cap-shap-ed, with a high-flung brim in front—all sequins. It is really thrilling! Ohly for weddings or very smart receptions, but absolutely “it” on the. right person. Agnes Samson, Lambton Quay.—Advt.
