Mr. Alex. Juriss, of Dunedin, joined the staff of the Hutt court yesterday on transfer from Dunedin. Mr. L. A. Buchanan, who has been performing relieving duties at the Hutt court, commences duty to-day with the State Advances Department. Mrs. McClurg, Christchurch, is the guest of her son, Mr. D. W. McClurg, and Mrs. McClurg, Old Military Road, Lower Hutt. Mrs. Fred Stoupe, Totara Crescent, Lower Hutt, who has been on holiday in Canterbury, has returned homi). Miss Thea Baigent, King’s Crescent, Lower Hutt, leaves for a holiday in Dunedin next week. Mr. and Mrs. William Smith, Waterloo Road, Lower Hutt, are spending the week-end at the Chateau Tongariro. Mr. and Mrs. John Mitchell, "Casaloraa,” Western Hutt, arc visiting Christchurch. Miss Williams and Miss Isabel Williams, Bellevue Road, Lower Hutt, are visiting Rotorua. Mr. T. Holloway’s resignation as assistant town clerk was received with regret by the Eastbourne Borough Council last night. The mayor, Mr. E. W. Wise, said the council had lost a capable officer. Tlie council recorded its appreciation of Mr. Holloway's services. He has been appointed town clerk at Taihape.
