Friesland And Lowenberg In Good Order Dominion Special Service. Hawera, December 16. A strong northerly wind did not seriously hamper training operations on the Hawera tracks this morning, and some good times were recorded. Both the plough and the course proper were in excellent order for galloping. On the plough, after giving considerable trouble at the start, Cytos (Toki) got to the end of six furlongs m 1.19 J, the last half in 54. The daughter of Gainscourt and Remora is becoming hard to control and an undercheck was used this morning for the fjrfit time. She di<l not appear to appreciate the new gear and would not leave the mark. After running the first three furlongs in 404 Narrator (Cole) shaded Tnlitho (Hawkes) at the close of five furlongs in 1.74. For a similar effort Advance Plane (Hawkes) worked attractively to register 1.5. He is in splendid order for immediate engagements. Reo Ra (Cole) cantered round and sprinted the final two furlongs in 27. He ia still very backward. Yesterdnv morning Friesland (Monklev) and Lowenberg (Murray) revealed tliat both are in capital order by reeling off half a mile in 50. It was a great gallop after the rain and the pair finished very strongly. Friesland loft for HPe Awamutii by float this morning. He is returning on Sunday and will leave for Ellerslie again about Friday of next weekOn Course Proper. On the course proper, from a barrier start, in which both jumped away well, Golden Orchid (Toki) and Daisy Chain (Pepperill) ran the three furlongs down the back in 41$. They were faced by a head wind throughout and worked satisfactorily. , , , Fiancee (Hawkes) displayed dash <n running a half-mile in 51 2-5. It was a pleasing effort bn her own and the Siegfried two-year-old finished on well. Le Marquis (Hawkes) also pleased m dashing over three furlongs in 38. The Lord Quex novice is improving with every sprint. Hie etablomate Gold Glare (Grylls) worked sluggishly over half a mile in 55. He is likely to take a long time to come right. Useful pace work on the plough was executed by One tVhetu, Ned Cuttie, Swift Sand, with Gold Tor. on lead Captain Bligh, Lowenberg. Lickem, Valhalla, Naughty Marietta, Fox Moth, King Pluto, Prime Quality and Dark Eagle.
