AT NEW PLYMOUTH

Dancing Lady Working In Best Style

Dominion Special Service,

New Plymouth, December 16.

Galloping was of a very interesting nature at New Plymouth this morning, when the majority of holiday candidates were stepped out. Fast work was done on the trial grass, with the sting out of the going. Ringside led Tomoana throughout six furlongs, to finish half a length in front in 1.16 2-5. Ringside continues to please, but Tomoana cam* home strongly. Clessamor was not asked to do his best to cover half a mile in 51 3-5.

Namara impressed by sprinting half a mile in 50. It was a good effort on the' part of the youngster, who looks well at present. Neither Mungatoon nor Basra was extended over the concluding stages of five furlongs in 1.61. Basra was anxious to do better. .1. L. Gray was on the tracks with Grand City and Full o’ Scotch, but both were let off with easy tasks. Grand City, who may start on the second day at New Plymouth, has come through his Woodville racing in good shape. Drathula, Majority, Siegland and the Colossus novice were given barrier practice. Later Siegland and the Colossus jnare sprinted three furlongs smartly in 37 1-5. Booklaw covered a round at working gallop pace, the last six furlongs taking 1.221. Don Erma was given a similar task, hitting out freely to register 1.20 2-5 for his six furlongs. Lady Kyra Goes Well. Lady Kyra gave Bonny Glow four lengths start over seven furlongs, but finished a couple of lengths in front in 1.33. Lady Kyra did her work attractively. If a suitable rider can bo obtained, she will probably start in the Christmas Handicap and not sprint- on Boxing Dav. After Race Call had opened up an early break on Winsome Lu, the latter finished strongly to bo over a length ill front at the end of five furlongs in 1.3 2-5. Winsome Lu received the worst of the start, and wont rather better than the time indicates. Dancing Lady gave Lady Boden a start but. soon headed the youngster off over half a mile in 51 3-5. Dancing Lady had a lot in reserve and is working in her best style at present. Lady Boden had previously been given barrier practice. and is shaping well. Glorietta was not inclined to leave the mark when sent to the barrier a couple of times with Tahurangi. Glorietta is still very green. Tahurangi was later given a working gallop on plough, running the last half-mile in 56. Ringside and Drathula will be ridden on Boxing Day by R. Barlow, a promising young apprentice. Ripple iw unlikely to start on the first day.

Captain Tudor has gone lame again, and will not race over the holidays. He is to~be spelled, so may not start again for some time. H. Gray has now lost the services of Cardsharper, Captain Tudor and Bautry during the past fortnight. , Redolent has been scratched for all engagements and Grand City for the Stewards’ Hack.
