ASHES SCATTERED IN SEA
Earl Carries Out Dead Wife’s Wish (Received July 31, 1 a.m.) London, July 30. Carrying out an old wish of his wife’s, the Earl of Cardigan scattered her ashes from a boat into the sea near her birthplace on the Isle of Wight. He then scattered a handful of dark red roses. The ceremony was carried out quietly, the earl being extremely distressed. The Countess of Cardigan committed suicide by jumping from the seventh floor of the Savoy Hotel, London.
