STAY-IN STRIKE COLLAPSES
Men Leave Mine (Received July 31, 1 a.m.) Sydney, July 30. The stay-in strike at the John Darling colliery at Newcastle collapsed abruptly at 8 p.m.. when all the men left the mine after an announcement by the Broken Hill Company’s manager that the company was not prepared to submit to further humbugging, but intended to close their mines, “John Darling,” “Burwood,” nnd “Lambton” indefinitely unless they received assurances of continuity of work.
