SOCIAL ROUND

Seatoun Plunket Committee Social Wednesday’s line evening brought a large gathering of mothers to a social given by the Seatoun Plunket committee at the Seatoun Kiosk. The president, Mrs. D. Ewen, welcomed the guests, after which musical items were given by Mesdames Kelloway, Coventry, Puddie, Pengelly and Miss Brandon. Miss Luxford was heard in several amusing recitations. The winners of the competition were Mrs. Davies and Mrs. Wesney. A friendly, happy atmosphere pervaded the gathering, and the evening was concluded with the serving of supper. Farewell Morning Tea.

Mrs.' T. B. Strong, who is leaving Wellington for Christchurch, was entertained at morning tea at the Pioneer Club recently by members of the ladies’ auxiliary of the British and Foreign Bible Society. The room* looked very attractive with tastefully arranged vases of iceland poppies and irises. Mrs. Porter, ou behalf of the members, presented Mrs. Strong with a token of love and esteem, and expressed the deep appreciation of all of the work she had done on behalf of the Bible Society. Mrs. Gavin Wilson and Mrs. Israel also expressed their appreciation of Mrs. Strong’s valued work. Mrs. R. J. Crawford spoke on the missionary side of the work of the Bible Society, and referred to the work of Mrs. Strong in this respect. Mrs. A. M. Lewis also spoke. A recitation by Mrs. Binnie Neas was much enjoyed. Mrs. Strong, in reply, thanked all for their good wishes, and the pleasure it had been to be associated with the work.
