SAMOAN INCIDENT
Four Natives Sentenced to Imprisonment (Received July 28, 11.45 p.m.) Apia, July 27. As the result of the happening on Thursday last four Samoans appeared before Chief Judge Morllng and his associate Judge Anapu to-day and pleaded guilty to all charges. Mose, charged with wilful mischief, being armed with a dangerous weapon, threatening behaviour and provoking a breach of the peace, was convicted and sentenced to three months’ imprisonment. Maae and Manumatuatua,' charged with being in the possession of unlicensed firearms and discharging them in public, were convicted and sentenced to one month’s imprisonment. Lokeni, charged with a similar offence, was sentenced to two weeks’ imprisonment. The Chief Judge, summing up, commented adversely on inappropriate ancient customs being carried out in the main streets among traffic. The incidenb may now be considered closed.
