Trade with East Indies i Mr. D. Lammers, resident manager at Sydney for the Koninklyke Paketvaart Maatschappy (Royal Packet Navigation Co., Ltd.), arrived at Wellington yesterday in the Awatea to make a tour of New Zealand in connection with the company’s new service from the East Indies, which will call at Wellington and Auckland next month. As yet, two ports of call in New Zealand have been planned for, said Mr. Lammers, but should trade warrant an extension this would be made. “The first boat is due in New Zealand on May 14. She is named Maetsuycker, after one of Abel Tasman's counsellors, and it will be her maiden voyage.” He said the ship was one of the latest motor-vessels to be built, and it had a tonnage of 4000. The other ship to be placed on the run was the s.s. Van Rees.
