THESPIAN PRODUCTION TO-MORROW
To-morrow night will see the first performance in Wellington of J. B. Fagan’s famous seventeeuth-century comedy "And So To Bed,” which is to be presented by the Thespians for a season of four nights in the Town Hall Concert Chamber. This witty and clever comedy relates some imaginary incidents in the life of Samuel Pepys, the famous diarist, the playwright having brilliantly caught the character of the sentimental, pompous, pleasure-lov-ing Secretary of State. Beautiful sev-enteenth-century costumes, specially imported for the production, and scenery and furniture made by members of the society to special design, are a guarantee that this side of the production will he well up to the Thespians’ usual high standard in staging. Lighting effects, too, have been carefully arranged to lit the period. A strong cast has been rehearsing the play for some time, under Mr. D. G. Edwards, who is producing the play with Victor S. Lloyd as advisory director. Those taking part are:—A. D. Priestley, Warren Toogood, Sinclair Ronald, Zenocrate Mountjoy, Erie Evan-Young, Evan Harrowell, Dorothy Tansley, Mary Marsden, George Aldridge, B. C. Forgie, Jean Combs, Lorna Baxter, G. S. Lloyd, Gibson Philp, Mavis Manthel, Beth Maplesden, R. J. Larkin, and Peter Maplesden. Tlie box plan, which is at Begg’s, Manners Street, is filling rapidly.
