RELIEF EXPENDITURE
U.S.A. Reduction Forecast (Received April 19, 11.5 p.m.) New York, April 19. The Washington correspondent of the “New York Times” says it is reliably reported that President Roosevelt’s forthcoming message to Congress on estimates for relief expenditure will propose reductions totalling 250,000,000 dollars, of which 100.000,000 dollars represent relief reduction and 150,000.000 dollars new economies in various departments. Mr. Roosevelt is expected to voice the hope of attaining a balanced Budget by 1939, which is a year's postponement on his prediction in his message to Congress in January last.
