FIVE O’CLOCK PARTY

Miss A. Kane Entertains Miss Amy Kane was hostess at a most enjoyable cocktail party which she gave at the popular hour, 5 p.m„ yesterday, in honour of Miss Nona Gordon, ‘Wellington, and Mr. Arthur Goulding, Auckland, whose engagement has just been announced. The party, at which were nearly 100 guests, was held in the Pioneer Club, the room being beautifully decorated with bowls and vases of large, exquisitely tinted hydrangeas, belladonna lilies, zinnias in all their lovely tones, and dahlias. While the guests sipped their cocktails and partook of savouries, ot which there was an unusually large variety. Miss Gordon and Mr. Goulding received tlie congratulations of all present, after which their health was proposed by the Hon. W. Perry. Miss Kane received her guests in a frock of deep burgundy crinkle crepe, embroidered in gold thread, with small burgundy felt hat and feather. She also wore a shoulder spray of red roses and maidenhair fern. Miss Gordon was in a navy blue taffeta dress made with puff sleeves, stitched revers and a front of palest beige net.
