BIRTHDAY TEA

In celebration of the 89th anniversary of her birthday, Mrs. J. Reid, Island Bay, was tendered a happy party by Miss H. Falconer, of Christchurch, at the D. 1.0. tearoom yesterday. Afternoon tea was served on a table tastefully decorated in vieux rose flowers, which toned with the attractive room. The hostess chose a tailored navy costume with felt hat to match, and Mrs. Reid was becomingly dressed in a black ensemble and hat. Among the guests were Mrs. J. McNab and Mrs. M. Branson, daughters of the guest of honour.

When preserving plums or damsons, prick the ends with a silver fork, and you will find they are greatly improved.
